Emily is the newest instructor for SFAA. She will be starting a small beginners hoop class in September and also helps out with the administrative side, writing some of the incredible blog posts, not that I’m biased or anything… A lot of you will know Emily from generally loitering around the studio but read on below to find out more!

I first started pole in 2010, but only as a casual hobby once a week before giving up for a couple of years. It was only when I came across to JD Studio that I really caught the pole bug! I started back with Zorena in 2014 with just one beginner pole class a week. One pole class was just not enough for me and I ended up becoming a platinum member after just a few months, attending pole, hoop, stretch and fitness classes nearly every evening despite working in Lymington at the time!

At first I was very nervous about choreographing and performing routines, I was very much a part of the no way brigade! I was persuaded to perform at the showcase, as a kind of compromise… and then I started competing in 2015 at the UKPDC with Lauren, followed closely by our own Solent competition. I then went on to qualify for IPAAT, then Solent again, then Bristol Pole champs… So it’s safe to say I have been fired from the never-compete-crew! I have been on a few workshops to further my abilities... I have done a doubles hoop/pole workshop with Zorena and co, an introduction to contortion with Pixie Le Knot, a strength workshop with Heidi Hildersley, Grounded Pole and Hoop with Kate Edwards and I'm sure there's more but I can't remember!!

I started instructor training earlier this year and my first class will be a small beginner hoop class. I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach and I’m really looking forward to it!

***Edited to add***

Zorena here!! Just a quick note to add that Emily has passed her Spin City Beginners Aerial Hoop Instructor course, as well as the Anatomy & Physiology, and the Stretch for Pole & Aerial courses, and she has just completed her Beginners POLE Instructor training and is registered for beginners Aerial Sling Instructor training this weekend!! She's not one to blow her own trumpet so I thought I'd better hack in and do it!! :D :D
