Sharon is our representative at The Hub in Eastleigh, offering classes in pole on a Tuesday night! She will also soon be starting beginners aerial hoop classes at JD Studio on Sundays too! Sharon has been a regular student here at SFAA so it was only natural that she should be a representative of our brand for her own classes! Some of our JDS students might not know Sharon very well, so read on to find out more! I am a mum of two (who both also come to JD Studio for dance and stretch/hoop classes!) and a local secondary school teacher. I am of course DBS checked and a PDC member. I started pole dancing in February 2013 and instantly fell in love with it. As a child, I had always loved dance and gymnastics and this seemed to be a great sport that combined both. I completed all the British Gymnastics Awards and went on to complete the Acrobatics Awards too. I loved all things arty and musical at school; I play the clarinet (still), played with the orchestra, windband and used to sing with the choir. I was a member of the debating team and also a keen chess player. In terms of dance, I had previously learnt ballet and tap as an adult; and am currently learning to Tango, which is one of my favourite dance styles. A year after starting pole, I began teaching and took my PDC Instructor training with Zorena at what is now SFAA. I decided to teach as I really enjoyed being at the studio and felt it was a good way to sharpen my technique. Since then I have taken the Spin City courses to continue my CPD. I enjoy the variety and challenge that pole offers and this is what prompted me to also learn aerial hoop, and complete my beginner’s instructor course for hoop. I really enjoy the challenge of learning something new and I’m always keen to develop my skills further through jams, workshops and attending classes. Certifications:
